Single Headed Axe Very similar to a standard tree felling axe, it can be wielded with single or double hands. A foot weapon used more by Squires and Men at Arms than Knights. Its sharp blade and weight can cause brutal damage, leaving gaping wounds and crushing bones |

Hand and Half Sword At about 3.5 to 4 feet in length this sword can be be wielded with one hand but two hands are often used. Due to the size, used only on foot, with the fittest fighter often ending the victor if the fights lasts a while The heavy blade is designed to cause damage to flesh and bone. Wounds inflicted often result in terminal blood loss |

The Double Headed Axe Designed as a battle weapon for foot use, like the single headed axe, is used more by Squires and Men at Arms. The twin sharp blades allows you to swing the axe in both directions, so you can deliver a greater number of telling blows. A skilled user can defend himself against a number of foes at one time. The weight is more balanced than the single head, enabling the cutting blows to deliver more significant damage. |

Double Handed Sword As the name suggests, at nearly 6 feet in length, two hands are required to wield this sword. Due to its colossal size, used only on foot, with contest being slow and deliberate, with immense energy needed to lift these swords. The heavy blade can slice a man in two when coming from high, but fights are often decided by the ability of the knight to continue, as exhaustion sets in quickly with the shear effort required |

Poleaxe Often over 6 feet in length, with a sharp blade and spiked end The shaft can be used like a quarterstaff. The axe head is lighter than a normal single headed axe and can be swung quite easily. The spiked end can also be used in a stabbing motion. A foot weapon, not often used in close combat and is more suited to defending yourself against on coming riders utilising its longer reach. |

The Scimitars A more specialist sword; knights adopted these weapons after having them used against them in the Crusades. Their enemy often used them in pairs and were able to reign a succession of blows down at high speed. Can be used on foot or horseback and their light weight means you can fight longer before fatigue sets in Like the Board Sword, their sharp blades can cut leather and pierce basic chain mail |

The Ball and Chain The fastest of all the hand held weapons, with the most skilled fighters able to deliver blows from every angle. Can be used on foot or horseback, the ball and chain combination, can hit round the opponents defenses and even disarm them of their own weapon in a fight. The spiked ball is designed to break bones, but can also yield a fatal blow to the head. |

The Quarterstaff Often the favoured weapon of Outlaws, as they are easy to make and light to use. In the hands of a skilled user, they can beat most attackers with light arms. The long reach gives a distinct advantage, with blows and jabs bing the main attacking moves. The blows can be painful and often result in small bones being broken, but you are more likely than not to survive a fight against a quarterstaff |

Bow and Arrow The weapon of choice for attacking your apponent at distance or hunting game and more assosiated with Outlaws than Knights A skilled bowman can acurately fire several arrows off in a matter of seconds. Used in tornaments to demonstrate skill and accuracy of hitting targets rather than another apponent. |

The Lance
At 15 feet
in length, even counterbalanced the lance can only be used by the most
proficiate of Knights
They can be used to demonstrate skills of 'Taking a ring' or 'Hitting the quintain' , but their main purpose is to unseat the opponent at the tilt. With both horses travelling at 20 to 30 mph, the combined force of a hit can inflict mortal damage if struck in the head or heart, but with lances often blunted in tornaments, most Knights live to ride another day |
