'Organise a
jousting tournament Marshall and make it soon, or it will be
your head
instead of Roxborough's' The Knight Marshall hurried to make plans, knowing this was no hollow threat from the most evil Knight of them all, The Black Knight Only days later to resounding fanfare, the
Knight Marshall calls upon the Squires and Men at Arms
enter the tilting ground at take their positions. It
is the Knight Marshall’s job to see that the tournament is
conducted in a just
and fair way and his first task is to call into the list the knights to
do
battle. The crowd
roars as their hero, Sir Malcolm of Roxborough enters the tilting
ground on his trusted steed,
but with many knights too afraid to face the rath of the Black Knight,
who
will fight beside him? The
answer comes just moments later in the form of the disheveled and
somewhat
drunken figure of Sir Frederick, as his bemused steed bounds into the
arena,
mead spilling liberally from his tankard to the amusement of both the
audience
and the Black Knight camp. Needing a second, the Good Knight had little
choice
but to accept the late offer of support from Sir Frederick; even though
he was
too drunk to care what he had volunteered for. There
was a hush followed by a cacophony of boos as Sir Guy of Gisbourne is
called to
take his place in the Black Knights camp, his menacing stare and
distain for
the audience, a clear sign of things to come. The Black Knight thunders
into
the arena, a shear mountain of evil, his mighty steed seaming
to spit
fire from his nostrils. He revels in the boos and jeers and vows to
make them
pay by humiliating their hero before them. .......And so the scene is set. With tests of skill and bravery to determin who will win the day. Will Sir Malcolm; handicapped from the start with a Drunkard for a second, be good enough to overcome a Black Knights camp who are set on fighting with devious and dirty tactics? This
is no fairy tale, so anything could happen. Who you cheer for could
just make the difference, so look out for a tournament near you and TAKE YOUR PLACE IN HISTORY |
